The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced one of the largest infant crib recalls in U.S. history. New York-based Delta Enterprises has notified the CPSC that it is recalled about 1.6 million cribs that were sold between 1995 and 2005.
The cribs in question are now longer sold by major retailers, but will likely be available at garage sales, thrift stores and online auctions.
Delta says it is ordering the recall following the deaths of two infants. The problem involves safety latches that may not properly lock the moveable gate that is raised and lowered to gain access to the infant. The cribs were made in China, Indonesia and Taiwan.
Replacement and repair parts will be provided to customers who have the models affected by the recall.
