State of Emergency Declared for Florida

Gov. Charlie Crist has declared of state of emergency for the entire State of Florida as Hurricane Ike approaches the peninsula.

“On Sept. 3, 2008, Hurriccane Ike became the fifth hurricane of the season and the fourth tropical system to threaten the state within the last four weeks,” Crist said in the order. “The National Hurricane Center is forecasting that Ike may make landfall along the eastern coastline of the Florida peninsula as a major hurricane.”
